History of the 'lazy'
Hunted Slaves
Hunted Slaves by Richard Ansdell

I have chosen three of the greatest crimes against humanity to show how in each case the victims were portrayed as 'lazy'.

Each of these tragedies share common traits:

  • The accusations of laziness were simply untrue and ludicrous
  • It was near impossible for the victims to escape their cruel fate
  • Once condemned as 'undeserving' all laws of humanity were stripped away
  • The perpetrators considered themselves to be good, honest, church-going, upstanding, charitable and superior

These tragedies are:

The perpetrators of these tragedies, were people who considered themselves to be superior hard-working Christians. They blamed the victims for being architechts of their own fate, either due to laziness or immorality, usually both. The perpetrators were in complete denial of their own wrong-doing.

This sense of superiority comes from deep within our philosophy. People are judged either good or bad with no inbetween.

Prejudiced people consider or at least portray themselves to be good people.
